Puppies and kittens should have a basic immunisation programme of two injections. The first injection is from 7 weeks for puppies and 9 weeks for kittens with a second after 10 weeks for puppies and 12 weeks  for kittens.

 

ANNUAL BOOSTERS ARE ESSENTIAL TO MAINTAIN PROTECTION

 

Our standard dog vaccine protects against:

 

Distemper - potentially fatal “flu-like” disease often with fits

Hepatitis - liver disease

Parvovirus - a potentially fatal gastroenteritis

Leptospirosis - two types, attacking liver and kidneys

Parainfluenza - a cough syndrome

 

Other vaccines available:

 

Rabies - requirement for Pet Passport and travel abroad

Kennel cough - a severe cough syndrome (required by many boarding kennels)

 

Our standard cat vaccine protects against:

 

Cat flu - two types, calicivirus and rhinotracheitis

Infectious enteritis - also known as panleukopaenia

 

Our full cat vaccine also protects against:

Leukaemia and chlamydophila

Rabbit vaccine protects against:

 

Myxomatosis - spread by rabbit fleas, domestic rabbits are just as vulnerable as wild rabbits (six month boosters recommended)

Viral haemorrhagic disease - causes sudden death (annual boosters recommended)

Flu and Tetanus vaccines should be given as follows:

 

Primary Course - two injections 21 - 92 days apart.

First booster - 150 - 215 days after the second injection. Thereafter annual boosters for Flu, with Tetanus every 2 - 3 years.
